Transform the Way You See Yourself

ree

Self-confidence is trust in your ability to control your life and is critical to achieving your goals and desires.  Your actions are heavily influenced by whether or not you believe you will succeed.  The more you believe, the more action (and risks) you will take.  The more action you take, the more success you will experience.

But what if you lack self-confidence? If you do, you’re not alone.  Studies show that about 85% of people lack self-confidence at some time.  As women, we are conditioned to be more concerned about how others see us (compared to men) which impacts our self-confidence more. Self-confidence is often affected by life experiences like trauma and discrimination, as well as social media.  Having low self-confidence at times is expected.  But low self-confidence can be improved.

There are several things you can do to increase your self-confidence:

    1) Stop comparing yourself to others.  Making comparisons is normal, but it doesn’t help your self-confidence.  It's more likely to lead to feelings of envy and self-doubt. When these feelings arise, remind yourself of your gifts, talents, and strengths.

   2) Spend time with positive people.

The people you spend time with influence your thoughts and feelings about yourself. Pay attention to how the people around you make you feel. Seek to be with people that build you up, not tear you down.

3) Practice self-care.

It’s hard to feel good about yourself when you’re exhausted. Your diet, fitness level, and sleep habits all contribute to your overall health. Taking care of yourself fuels self-confidence and communicates to the world that you care about yourself.

Self-confidence has a cyclical effect.  Acting more confident, helps you be more confident.  And self-confidence is the ticket to self-fulfillment.
