Every Woman Has a Story to Tell

Every woman has a story to tell. I didn’t begin to tell my story until I was 44 years old.  The story I told to others was quite different than the life I lived. Despite having a husband, two beautiful children, and a successful career as a school Principal, I was not fulfilled. I may have appeared happy on the outside, but I was so focused on being a mom, wife, and career woman, that I overlooked the one person I needed to care for the most — me.

I was so busy getting through life that I didn't realize I wasn’t truly living it. At age 44, I didn't know who I was or what I wanted. And I was terrified. The only me I knew existed in the context of others. My husband’s wife, my children’s mother, my school staff's leader. But who was I when I stood alone? Who was I in those quiet moments when no one was there to define me?

Living the next 30 to 40 years disconnected from myself was not an option. So, I started unraveling the layers of myself - one, thick, cemented layer at a time. Six years later, the woman I see in the mirror is no longer a stranger. I am virtuous, victorious and valued!

I started Virtuous, Victorious & Valued Magazine in 2015 to share my story and the stories of other women on the journey to self-fulfillment. Sadly, I stopped publishing when Covid-19 hit. Opening a new school in the middle of a global pandemic extinguished my time, energy and creativity. In December of 2024, I retired from education after 28 years. It was a difficult but necessary change. Stepping away from the stress and long hours gave me peace. I felt re-energized and ready to spark the creativity within me. VVV Magazine was reborn!
